Service progression, from Initial Consult to Assessment to Treatment Plan to Follow-up
Treatment process

We begin with an initial consultation and you can decide after the initial consultation if you would like to proceed to the next step- scheduling your first visit for an in depth diagnosis, your first treatment and treatment plan that works for you. During the initial consultation, we gather information to assess your specific needs.

During the first visit, we use East Asian medicine assessment methods that involve examining your tongue, pulse, and channels related to physiological systems. East Asian medical assessment methods can tell us if there are imbalances that cause dis-ease. We use these methods to determine the most likely pattern(s) of imbalance and select the most effective treatment methods to address your unique pattern of imbalance.

At the end of the first session, we will confirm the best treatment plan for you. Recommended treatments may include acupuncture, electroacupuncture, acupressure, heat therapy, herbal supplements, and/or cupping. For more information on East Asian treatment methods, see the FAQ section. Depending on your condition, pattern of imbalance and your specific needs, your treatment plan may consist of one or two treatments or a course of treatments over several weeks.

After completing your treatment plan, you can also continue with follow-up consultations that include patient education on lifestyle changes (exercise, nutrition, stress management), and/or coaching to ensure and sustain optimal health.

Treatment Services

Acupressure

Acupressure is pressure applied to specific acupuncture points without penetration of the skin to produce a therapeutic response.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the stimulation of a specific acupuncture point along channel pathways on the body by the insertion of needles to prevent or modify the perception of pain or to normalize physiological functions, including pain control for the treatment of certain diseases or dysfunctions of the body, and includes the techniques of electroacupuncture, cupping, and moxibustion. Why do we use acupuncture? By inserting acupuncture needles strategically in acupuncture points, we signal the body’s healing mechanisms.

Auricular Acupuncture

We use German auricular acupuncture which involves stimulation of specific points on the ear that correspond to areas of the body based on the German auricular microsystem for relieving pain.

Cupping

Cupping devices are usually applied on the back but it can be applied to other parts of the body. The practitioner uses cupping devices to produce a suction or vacuum effect resulting in something similar to inverse massage therapy. Whether cupping is applied alone or in combination with acupuncture, studies have shown cupping may help relieve conditions such as arthritis, muscle tension, back and neck pain.

Therapeutic massage

Therapeutic massage involves manipulation of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to relieve tension and increase blood circulation.

Testimonials

Sunny is a great gift to the health profession! I was very resistant to acupuncture, due to an overwhelming fear of needles, but really wanted to receive the benefits that I’d heard so much about. Getting acupuncture from Sunny was absolutely wonderful! She has such a gentle touch, and is so precise in the optimal locations of each needle, that her treatments are very effective. She has helped me with various aches and pains, as well as emotional issues during times of crisis. I also had a few treatments of “ear acupuncture”, which were pretty incredible, and I’m really looking forward to the next one. Anyone who gets to experience her treatments is extremely fortunate!

Sunny is a very knowledgeable and professional East Asian medicine practitioner. I never tried acupuncture, any homeopathic remedies, or other East Asian medical practices until a friend convinced me to try to help with some growing chronic shoulder pain. After researching different practitioners I gave Sunny a call.  She discussed my situation in depth with me prior to even suggesting a treatment and then isolated that it was my neck giving me issues even though the pain was in my shoulder and upper arm. After giving me just one acupuncture treatment, my pain level drastically dropped and has completely gone away after three total treatments. Because of this I have discussed other issues with Sunny and she has given me multiple different ways to treat them from homeopathy to cupping, to additional acupuncture.  I would highly encourage anyone that is experiencing chronic pain or is even just thinking about trying eastern medicine to contact Sunny.  She definitely listens to your concerns and tailors a program that will be making you feeling better almost instantly.

For quite some time I had experienced a lot of chronic pain in my lower back (mostly L3 and SI Joint). Before, I only had some minor problems until about 3 years earlier, I was carrying something too heavy, and must have did some real damage. I was having near constant pain in my lower back and was not able to sleep in certain positions. Before the treatments with Sunny-Kim, I would deal with this by stretching in the morning and weekly Chiropractic treatments. Yet, usually next morning after the chiropractor, the back pain was the same as before. I also was getting massage treatments, which felt great, yet didn’t yield any lasting improvement. Several months ago my wife was getting acupuncture treatments for other issues, and getting really good results. So I decided to try it as well. At first, it was like temporarily relief, but sticking with it, over several treatments I started to see not only my back but, other issues fall away, such as some neck pain issues and chronic pain in my lower thumb joints. I still get an occasional chiropractic adjustment, but with a big difference. Now the adjustment holds. Now it holds for days to weeks, not hours. Also I am now I’m able to exercise which I avoided doing because of pain or fear of future pain. Sunny’s combination of acupuncture and treatments to increase circulation definitely aided in making the pain a thing of the past.

Sunny-Kim demonstrates a warmth and caring in her practice that I rarely see in healthcare today. Our initial meeting involved questions and discussions before treatment began. She was really interested in exploring how all aspects of my life related to health, not just treating the symptoms. While she certainly knows her stuff, she really excels at listening to her patients and tailoring her treatment plans to meet your needs. Each treatment I have received has removed the high level of stress and body tensions I experienced and has put me into a state of deep out- of- this- world relaxation and well-being! She is awesome and makes you feel so at ease and right at home. I treasure every treatment! And highly recommend her!
